Defective 1.5 Liter EcoBoost engine 2018 SE AWD
Defective 1.5 liter I4 EcoBoost engine. Short block replaced at 65,000 km (40,625 miles) due to cracked engine block. First noticed coolant consumption at less than 10,000 km (6,250 miles) on original motor. After about 10,000 km new short block experiences rough idle and now big end rod knock. Taking in to dealer this morning for further assessment. Will keep you posted as to outcome.

EcoBoost Engine Failure - Poorly Desgined
I purchased a brand new 2017 Escape with the Extended Warranty - not much good that did. The vehicle just came back from the Dealership as DOA - Dead on Arrival. The EcoBoost Engine Failed - Requires New Engine. Since last week I have found that there are several Class Action Lawsuits out against Ford re their EcoBoost Engine Failure - read online - easy to find if you want to join - the latest Class Action Lawsuit started April 19th 2024 (just a few days ago in Toronto On Canada).. There is an inherent design flaw which allows coolant to leak into the engine block. The actual wording on my Receipt (which they asked for payment for the assessment) was IDS PCM Codes P0301 and P0316 Also Noticed Degas Bottle Empty (coolant reservoir) Per TSB 22-2229 Requires Engine Replacement - and explained for the little sum of only $12,500 with tax approximately I could get it replaced. The service department was very nice - please take your time and get back to us..... really?
The Ford AWA department was a JOKE - After Warranty Adjustment - after holding for over 45 minutes - the answer was, so sorry nothing Ford can do for your - what did I expect the the The Customer Service Department at Ford works for Ford and only does what in the Best Interest of FORD not the retail Suckers that purchased a vehicle with a known Faulty Engine. No one at FORD cares - they do care about one thing only - the Stock Price and Bonuses!!
Ford has known about this design flaw for YEARs, as of March 2017 in the USA they acknowledge the flaw - but here in Canada - is most likely hoping to put everyone off until the combustion engine is no longer being made. Shame on Ford.
I now own a Beautiful Lawn Ornament.
Question - If you have had a similar problem and had it resolved please let me know.

We have a tendency to blame the engineers for "Design Problems" when it really is the bean counter that deserves the credit for the faulty product.
Everything these days is, "Where can we cut cost" .and the result is the poor customer pays. Then they wonder why there are so many imported vehicles on our roads today.
What do you folks think ?
