Engine light flashing/intake gaskets
#11
So guys update,After running great for a few days i ended up having some hesitation and took it back they determined coil 4 had some miss in it so we put in a used one that he had.
It seems to fix the issue for a few days but then i started having bad misses engine light always flashing.Scan shows missfire cylinder 4 and 6 so i got a couple more used coils that were laying in shop they look a bit different then the ones in my escape but he said wouldnt matter.
We put them in and now i have missfire on just cylinder 6
P0306 and P0316 show up on the scanner.
Would buying brand new coils fix issue or what else should i have checked?

The horse may already be out of the stable and could be too late to close the door.
It does matter what coils you put on an engine.
Ask yourself why those coils were just laying around, because they were good????
As Makuloco 2000 stated playing around with junk coils may have cost you a converter(s) problem. When that lite is flashing it's telling you have the engine looked at right away because it is in the process of ruining your converters by running rich and the converters can't handle that for very long. Misfires are one of the main reasons for running rich and some engines will disable fuel injection to the affected cylinders to hopefully prevent the converters from being ruined. In my humble opinion , I would suggest you find another mechanic/technician .

Thank u for the reply. I guess I should state they were used coils from another escape 04 not 03 like mine. Not sure if that matters.
They were from a running escape that was rear ended so all engine parts were decent.
My escape runs great good power no hesitation or misses until 75km then the rpm drop real low and then it misses and hesitates but after 80km it's back to normal rpm and power.
I should also say if I'm going good on the gas and not light it won't have that problem between 75 and 85 and it's only when I'm accelerating lightly on the gas.
