Gas Tank Problems
Is anyone having problems with putting gas in their Escape? Mine always acts like it is full. The hose shuts off like It is full but it happens when I am just getting started. It does finally stop doing that but in the beginning it is really annoying.

RE: Gas Tank Problems
There have been problems in earlier models with filler neck assemblies. The same valve that stops crooks from siphoning your fuel can cause trouble for you in filling it up. If you have troubles gassing up, take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it. If you're still under warranty it will be a free fix. If not, they may charge you for replacement of the fuel filler neck or the tank itself,

My Escape goes into the shop tomorrow. I will let everyone know what they decide to do on the gas tank.

I am having problems putting gas in my 2006 Ford Escape limited it always acts like it is full and when I start putting gas in I have actually seen the gas actually come shooting out of my gas tank,it almost take me 10 mins to fill my tank, I have seen 5 vehicles pull up fill up and leave by the time I am done. I like my vehicle and have had no problems but I am starting to see this happening with other ford vehicles and I am thinking maybe its time to switch to another make and model and brand name. The warranty is up and I have no idea how much this is going to cost or what the hell the problem is , one ford dealer ship said they have to do a smoke test , what ever the hell that is.

Fueling problem - similar
Hi,
Thought I'd put my 2 cents in. I bought a 2012 Escape in Nov 2011. Right about 17,00 miles and 11 months later the following sysptoms occured at fill up.
1. On initial "squirt " the fuel hose shut off after about 1.5 gallons entered.
2. Thereafter I could squirt very close to .7 gallons before the hose shut off.
3. After I reached about 10 gallons, I could on get at most .5 gallons in before shut off.
It varied very little whether I pulled the handle all the way or very little. It had to wait a least 5 seconds between each squirt, if I waited longer there was no difference than if i only waited 5 seconds.
After each shut off I could hear the fuel gurgling into the tank.
Great to hear other having problems (sic) so I know the dealership will not be able to give me the run around. I'll be visiting them soon, Serramonte Ford, just south of SFO. Will let you all know how it went.
Best Regards,
Glenn
