Default No instrument lights

On a 2007 escape i tried changing the dash panels backgound lights, changed a little..more i tried the less it would do finially did nothing..all gauges and functions work..no floor shifter or temp and fan lights either...found no fuses blown...# 7,22,28 all ok... all external lights work...the dimmer switch when ohmed has ohm reading in one direction and direct reading in other....which manual says is good..didn't give a range of ohm it should read though...the interior door fuctions are lighted and dome lights work as they should..........does anybody know what the ohm reading should beon dimmer switch?I have a wiring diagram book ...from what i have done it leaves the cluster or switch...does anybody know of something i've missed to check......makes it hard to drive at night..it is a 2wd XLT

Since you have the wiring diagram you should be able to determine which wire comes off the dash light intensity control and goes to the dash lights then confirm if the power from that switch is getting to the dash printed circuit board. Don't know at this point if a body or lighting control module is involved. What does the diagram show ?

Both wires off switch supply grd...in lower position it puts 2 wires together direct which is supost to darken lights ....top position has a resistor in it which suppost to make brighter.......middle position don't connect.............black and white wire is coming from grd in middle of console and is attached to cluster signal grd....tan and orange wire goes to dimmer in on cluster assy..........both of this wires and only these are into switch......i have grd......the ohm value would be critical to make lights brighten....wish ford would say that value but i can't find that.....switch is 50 bucks ....the cluster i could get from salvage but i'm sure it would have to be programed...or maybe some place repairs these.......again the dimmer switch is just inline to grd.putting them together dims....putting them together with a resistor [in switch} brightens...........very important resistor value.....................i like to drive this vehicle but if you can get by a month without something going out is rare
