Default 1999 2.0 engine that won't start

199 escort with 2.0 automatic trans. New exhaust and had engine code for EGR. Drove it another week and engine died. Thought it was low fuel, but still wont start.

Prior to new exhaust, car stuttered or "bucked" when driving around 50 miles an hour.

It has less than 70K on car and seems to have fuel..removed spark plug and see fuel..

ANY ideas>>??

ok..I replaced the timing belt. It had jumped time. Prior to removing timing cover / crank pulley engine had spark. Now it does not spark? Could it just be plugs? Or did / might something happened to the "coil"?

possible, did you plug the crank sensor back in? did you hit it in the t-belt process?
