1999 Ford Escort ZX2 Acting like its running out of Gas
Hi, I'm new to posting on these forums to bear with me lol. The reason I am posting is because I was driving home the other day from school on the interstate and my vehicle began to cough and sputter and shutter and pretty much do anything else horrific it could find to do. by giving it gas I was able to keep it running but it ran very very rough almost shaking the whole car. As soon as I let off the gas the car would shut off. These are the steps I have taken to solve the problem with no luck whatsoever.
1. Changed out the throttle positioning sensor.
2. Changed out the fuel filter.
After these did not solve the problem I checked the codes on the engine light and found that it read P0340 Which read Camshaft positioning sensor A (bank 1 or single circut. also I got another code for the coil ignition pack.
3. Changed out both the coil ignition pack and the camshaft positioning sensor.
I cleared the codes before doing this. Once i replaced the defective parts i ran the engine, with my foot on the gas the whole time, until the engin light came back on again. read the codes. the code for the coild ignition pack no longer showed up. the code for the camshaft did. finally i thought maybe the belt jumped timing. so i tried to take off the timing belt cover. i took it part of the way off but couldnt get it all the way off because the Motor Mount was in the way. i was able to look at the belt, it does not look worn and does not seem lose enough to have jumped a tooth. I NEED HELP. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
