95 escort A/C Relays?
Hello,
with summer coming up (I'm in Nevada... summer is a constant threat) I think it's time I fixed this problem with my 95 Escort's air conditioner. Whenever the A/C is running, this relay will make a click noise every five seconds or so. This is always accompanied by a brief engine surge as the A/C apparently disengages and then starts up again.
There are two relays in my escort. The light gray one, on the left, is the one that's clicking:
I believed this to be the A/C relay, but when I asked for a replacement from Checker, the replacement A/C relay did not have the groove on the left which appears necessary to accommodate the plug. The replacement part also had two vertical metal prongs, where my relays only have one each (it looks like the right prong was manually cut out of the light gray relay.) So now I'm not sure what part it is I need to order.
I can't help but notice these relays look a lot like these from an 83 escort: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NOS-1...spagenameZWD1V
I bought my 95 escort used from a former mechanic, so it's completely possible that these are not the original parts and he has messed around with them.
Anyone know what's going on here?
Thanks for your help,
Patrick
