97 escort broken pistons
Hello to the forum.
Would like to know if anyone has run into this problem. Drive car. running fine in fact perfect. Park car. Go to start car, Will not turn over. Pull out plugs look in holes and second cylinder from right, looking at engine, piston does not move back and forth like others do. Obviosly broken rod or piston. As mentioned running fine did not come appart running. Seemed to come appart after returning to normal temp. Was not over heated. Raditor new at least one year prior to problem.
Get used engine from recycle yard. Had mechanic replace head gasket, water pump, timing belt all external gaskets as well as all external rubber under hood. Remove and replace engines. Out of pocket $3400.00 Did not expect that. Did good job though. Looked like brand new. Drove car. Runs great just like other engine. Drove approx 2 months. Same thing as above. This time third cylinder from the right looking at the engine.
Wondering did Ford have a recall or bulletin for 97 escort piston or rods or crank failures?
The car is in great shape for the year. I have the broken engine that was taken out and it is complete and the engine that is in it. It has A/C, AM/FM cassett. Interior is good no rips. Tires are new. No bad dents. Never any accidents. Sea foam green. Love the car.
What do you think it is worth right now the way it is. Broken with extra broken engine.
I believe I have way to much money into the car for me to put any more into it. I think if a person was handy with a wrench it would not cost much to dissemble both engines, since they are both stock, and put together a functioning engine. I would pay someone to do it if it was allot less then I paid the other mechanic.
Thanks for any opinions and all welcome.
