I only ever hear it run the same speed. I am not sure if it is fast or slow. Maybe i will hook it direct to battery and see if it turns faster as that should be the full speed. correct?

That's not necessarily true. There should be 3 pins on the connector for the fan. One is ground, one is for high and the other is for low. I will look for a diagram to help you out so you don't fry the fan, in case it is good.

When does it start to get hot, sitting in the driveway or running down the road, if it's running down the road I'ed look at the radiator, it's time for a new one. they don't last forever.

Running down the highway is when it gets hot on hot days. Winter is setting in so it is now okay. If it makes the winter i will replace rad next spring.

Unless I missed it, I didn't see where you mentioned that you replaced the thermostat. If you haven't already replaced it, do so. If you have a bad head gasket, the engine will overheat also, regardless of whether or not the fan is working properly.
