Default 98 ZX2 Stutter?

Hey folks ... here is my issue. My girlfriend has a 1998 Ezcort ZX2, and a few months ago she complained about a "stutter" the car had. What she said happens is when the car is running it will all of a suddon start acting like the brakes are being applied on and off rapidly, but lightly. This happens while she is pressing the gas pedal, not pressing the gas pedal, but it does NOT happen when she brakes. In fact, this problem goes away when she applies the brakes or turns the car off and then turns it back on. This problem has become more and more frequent, and happens at any speed.

Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks,

Kyle

No. Imagine just driving along the road, then all of a suddon there is a pulse, or light tap of the brakes, then it stops for a second or two, then it does it again. It happens repeatedly until the car is turned off and then turned back on.

Sounds like somthing may be loose or worn in the front end.[hr]May even be a transmission problem.[hr]It's hard to tell over the internet.

Your most likely cause is the HVAC system. It is normal for it to sap some engine power when driving when it turns on and cause a surge when turning off. And yes it does feel like the brakes are being applied a little. It's a very annoying little feature that the car would be better off without.

Unplug the A/C compressor and see if it goes away.
