98 ZX2 trans noise
Got another one for one of you trans people out there.I have an automatic in a ZX2, the trans shifts fine and the car runs fine but when she gets up to normal operational temp. there is a whining noise in the trans when in gear at idle.It almost sounds like a sqeauling pump, but when you bring up the rpms the noise goes away. When you are at a light you can throw it in neutral and it shuts up. I changed the filter, fluid and added some Lucas Trans stuff to it and it didn't change,as a matter of fact I think it got worse. The car has 135000 on it but the thing shifts fine. I even got under the car with a stetha scope and tried to pin point it but had no luck. When she is screaming it sounds like it is right where the bell housing and the motor mate up. I dropped the inspection cover and just checked the converter nuts of course they were fine, I did see a sign of something lightly rubbing, you know like clean metal rather than rust, on the flywheel about 3/4" away from the nuts towards the center but it doesn't look real bad.I fear the worst anyone got any good news?
