brake lights on a 95 escort
brake lights went out i looked at the fuses there all good looked at the bulbs there good. turn signals work, hazards work, back up lights work, what else can i look at?if one bulb is bad do both lights not work?it has a 3rd brake light and its not working. could the brake switch be bad? is there something else i should look at? the turn signal switch have anything to do with the brake lights?

The brake lamp switch is where I'd look..
It could be a broken wire on the connector, or leading into it.. Sometimes the wire will burn and go open, or will break from flexing with pedal movement.. A modearate pull force on the wires will/may stretch the insulation if the wire has broken area.. Sometimes the connector/switch can fail from heat or normal wear.. If you have a 12v test light (or a meter) check for 12v going 'into' the brake lamp switch on the dark green/white wire.. With the pedal depressed, you should then have voltage 'out' of the switch on the Dark Green wire.. If there's no voltage into the stop switch, recheck the fuses in the IP panel both sides.. If ok, check the wire before the stop switch as far back as possible probing the insulation..
