climate control problems

RE: climate control problems
this is the face plate that holds the stereo and other components?
There are pairs of holes on the two sides of the plate. I haven't taken mine off yet but I guess Ford has a special tool.
My first attempt will involve taking a short length of coat hanger and bending it to fit in the two holes simultaneously. I figure you can probably do one side at a time. I'm not sure why they couldn't have used a couple of discreetly placed screws.
Once that's off you may find you have to take a lot more off to get at the blower. However, this section will probably come away pretty easily and will hopefully reveal other screws underneath.
What's wrong with the blower, by the way?

the stereo has the holes in it. but the climate controle dosn't. it's a 93 escort the stereo is right below the climate controle i have that completely off but the climate controle has a bunch of cables for the vents that i cant unhook. the cables are to move the vents so it will blow the air in different spots and they are unable to be removed because the space is too small for my hands to fit through i even had someone with smaller hands try to do it but they couldn't either.

Had a problem like that with the dashboard display on an old Toyota. Just managed to get my fingers back there to replace a couple of bulbs. Lost lots of skin in the process. Figured there must be a better way but never figured it out.
Unless you can find an extensive service manual, the only other thing you can do (perhaps a little unethical) is to go to a "pull it yourself" wreckers and go at one of their cars. You'll learn how to take it apart and if something breaks it's not so critical. Often I find these kinds of parts ripped off to get at something else. They're usually just lying on the floor.
But you didn't hear it here.
