Hello and good day:

I have both a 1999 Ford Escort SE, and a 2000 Ford Escort LX....Both are 2.0L Split Ports.....On the Valve cover it should clearly be marked SOHC (Single Over Head Cam) or DOHC (Double Over Head Cam).

However I believe only the 2.0L Zetec Engines are DOHC,,,These Engines are mostly in the ZX2 modles...(the Sporty Escort versions).

Have you referred to your Owners Manuel? To see what make, Model, and Engine type???

Hope this helps...good luck.
