Help!
I was driving home the other day going about 50 mph and my car started to make a loud ticking noise, next thing you know it just dies and wont turn back over. I talked to a mechanic and he told me it was the timing belt. So I start to tear the car apart. First I had to take the s-belt off and also the tensioner. Next I had to move some hoses around. Next I had to take the engine mount off to be able to remove the timming cover. So now I remove the crankshaft dampener(Pully). Now I rotated the crankshaft two complete revolutions.Losened the t-belt tensioner, removed the old t-belt and to my suprise it looked fine to me. There were no teeth missing no cracks. Whats up? I replaced the t-belt anyway. I linned up the marks just like I was supposed to on the camshaft and the crankshaft. Put everything back together, and nothing, wont turn over. Even checked the spark plugs after, I was getting spark. I did notice that the spark plug had a lot of gas on it, you could smell it. Did I do something wrong? I did just like my manual said. Someone told me that my valves could be messed up from when it went out? Any clue? It kinda sounds like it wants to start, and you can smell the gas.HELP!! E-mail me or post stephen1981king@hotmail.com

got one question was the timing marks were lined up before you took off the old belt and does it turn over at all and just doesnt start try turning it with the crank pulley make sure your engine is not done .

Yes my marks were lined up perfectly when I removed the crankshaft damper(pully). And yes I can turn the crank with a rachet just fine. Here is what I have done so far;
1. Changed timing belt, lined up maks where they needed to be, still can't get the engine to turn over.
2.Changed crankshaft sensor, didn't work so I put the old one back on.
3. Took my ignigtion control module to autozone to have checked, and it is fine.
4. Checked for good spark with a spark tester, I am getting good blue spark.
Comment @ this point: I removed the spark plugs after I tried to crank the engine. There was a awful smell of gas when I walked to the front of the car. And yes the spark plugs were covered in gas, you could smell it on the plugs.
5. I left the spark plugs out, so that the gas could evaporate from the engine. And that is the last step I have done so far.
Someone told me to unplug the Fuel injector rack and then try to crank it over, he said maybe it is flooding out. That the fuel regulator could be bad. DOES THIS SOUD LIKE A GOOD IDEA??
My only next step is to try a compresion test on the cylinders. That will let me know if my valves are messed up, right?
Please let me know something ASAP
Thanks,
Stephen

I have some new info, I noticed yesterday while i was working on the car that it is leaking oil. However it is like a redish tint and smells very burnt. It is leaking somewhere by the starter on that car. It leaks more everytime I try and turn it over. I am wondering if the loud ticking noise I heard before it died on me was my block cracking or maybe I blew a rod, How would I tell, what tests should I do? Let me know please. Thanks a bunch. ASAP NE1 know where I can get a rebuild kit realy cheap? Or is it worth it?
Thanks,
Stephen

Howdy its me again. I was just wondering. If my head gasket might be blown? Would it be leaking oil from the backside of the engine? The oil, like I said has a reddish tint to it. Also before it went out it had a loud ticking or knocking noise. How would I know if I blew a rod maybe? The car would still start wouldn't it? I am stummped, I have always been able to fix my cars with a book and my tools. It only leaks when I try to turn it over, needless to say it doesn't start. Thing is still sitting there. Thanks

Well guys I broke down and took my car to the shop. First off they told me my computer was bad the EEC. So I bought one and had them change it. Then it was my fuel relay and the the fuel shut off switch. The got all of that in and told me I now have fuel. I also have spark. Now they told me I have no compression on cylinder #4. So what does this mean guys. I am going to pick it up and take my car home. Because I don't think I need to pay them to fix it when I can do it myself.
Does this mean I that my head is bad. Or could it possibly be my head gasket is bad. What does it mean guys? Let me know. Or does it mean something much more serious. At least I have a new computer and fuel realy and switch. THanks guys!
