regular to cosworth conversion
hi, im new to the escort world. i love the escort cosworths but they are only 3 here in my country. all three are rally cars but one is driven as a road car but not regular. many ask him about selling it but he refused. so no escort cosworths are available locally and i have a feeling that importing one will be very expensive.
BUT there are some sierra cosworthshere and i see a normal escort here that looks exactly like the cosworth but doesnt have the cosworth bonnetor front bumper. it does have the cosworth spoiler tho. i hear that its front wheel drive. i dont know what kind of engine it has in it and it looks pretty standard to me.
i dont really like the sierra but i think i have an idea of how to get my own escort cosworth. i was hoping that there is a way i can convert the fwd escort to a 4wd escort cosworth with minor custom work and also use a 2.0l DOHC 16v engine out of one of the sierras.
i can get escort cosworth parts to convert from fwd to 4wd imported like the rear differential etc if the conversion is not too complicated with lots of guess work.i was saying i can get the parts to hold the transfer case, front and rear axle assembly etc welded to the existing chassis if it cant be bolted on.
questions
has anyone heardof this beingdone before?
if yes, do you have a write up of it?
if not do you think it would be an easy conversion?
do you think its a good idea?
do you think its better to get a factory cosworth imported then do this conversion?
thanks in advance
Ian
