Default Snapped cambelt 1.8 TD

I have a UK [:@]1998 Ford Escort Turbo Diesel and the cam belt has snapped and bent the valves. I have bought a second hand head and a head gasket kit to rebuild the engine. I require however the technical settings. Torque, timing etc and where the marks are for the timing belt. Also anything else I need. A friend is doing the work and said something about a tool required for the timing belt, some plates or something. Can anyone help me....HELP !![]
Thanks

First - if you crashed out your valves you likely screwed up your pistons too (the valves get crashed by the pistons - which often suffer their own damage). Marks for the belt are likely on the pulleys. Cam degreeing wheels (plates) are usually not necessary unless you're creating your own custom valve train set-up. With timing belts it is imperative (I rarely use this term) that you pay strict attention to the regular service intervals for them as set by Ford. I'd have the pistons magnafluxed to check for cracks and fractures before even getting started. You may end up "right back at the drawing board" - so to speak. The only torque values you should need are the head bolt torque and pattern (which ones get tightened first - and so on :so as not to create fractures by twisting the head the wrong way in tightening it). If the pistons are crashed - then you'll need a whole list of values. Don't make the mistakes of avoiding at least a visual check of the pistons and cylinder walls and checking for correct placement of the pistons in relation to the new valves during reassembly. You must have the correct torque values to reassemble - but It's a gamble whether or not the USA to U.K. torque values are the same or not. It might be better to find a local parts store or literature dealer near to you who would have a book with all of the information you need specifically. If I had a good picture of the gears from the front (not the toothed) side I might be able to identify the timing marks for you at least.
