Default transmission trouble

i am working on an 01 escort. the transmission stopped shifting out of second gear. today i changed the shift solenoids that i was instructed to change. while changing these i took my time to be sure that everything went back together correctly and it seems to be. but when i got it put back together and got the fluid in it, it will not shift into any gears at all now. the linkage is unaltered and when i put the car into neutral it will role and when its in park it will not. i have reverse lights when its in the reverse position but it does not seem to shift at all. please help????

Obviously something has changed. I believe your trans has an EPC (Electronic pressure control) solenoid. I would be very suspicious of the plugs and associated wiring if you are sure you did everything correctly. It does sound as if you have no pressure available to the clutches. Did you replace that solenoid?
