V-10 Mileage improvement
Is the cost of fresh air intakes and performance muffler worth the investment? Looks like an investment of $400 plus and I am getting 12-14 highway. Don't embarrass me by asking what city MPG is.

Some rambling for you to chew on...
You're highway mileage is about SPOT ON for the engine. Intakes and exhaust normally will not net you anything but added fuel costs. If you install a TRUE cold/fresh air intake, you're intake air charge will be colder, thus a denser aircharge. In turn, the MAF and IAT will cause the computer to increase the injector "PULSE" duration thus increasing fuel consumption. You're NET here is a very slight incease in HP/Tourqe. A "WARM AIR INTAKE" will net you an incease in MPG by doing the opposite. You're NET here is a slight loss in HP/Torque.
What are you looking at exhaust wise? Just a muffler? There's another whole can of worms. With a muffler, you normally gain noise and nothing else. The muffler on you vehicle was designed to balance the best flow of exhaust gasses from all cylinders with the stock exhaust manifolds in order to get the best volumetric efficiency in each cylinder. If you go with a larger exhaust, then the exhaust cools down faster causing the exhaust gasses to slow down, thus reducing the volumetric efficiency and a less than desires AIR/FUEL charger per cylinder.
