V10 Limited Gas Low Miles Cracked Block
I own a 2001 Ford Excursion V10 Limited with a gas egine. I bought it used almost exactly a year ago. It had 35,000 miles when I bought it and it now has 55,000 miles. The only trouble I have had with it was as someone mentioned in another post about the automatic door locks not wanting to work, then BOOM, now the engine block is cracked, there was water in my oil blah blah blah. Our mechanic is going to let us know today why this happened. My question is does anyone know what the original warranty was on this vehicle? Does it transfer to different owners? Where would I find information specific to my car?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, we have 3 small children, a house payment and only 1 income. This was the nicest car we have ever had and we really can't afford a $4000 engine right now!

Original Warranty is 3year, 36k miles. The original owner may have purchased an extended warranty, which isn't normally transferable. If you walked into a dealership and say it's you, I'm pretty sure they won't dig into whether or not it is. Another option could be to ask the service advisors about po5 or po7 plan, which is a request to Ford Motor Company to pay part of the cost of the repair. At that age and mileage though, I doubt Ford will approve it.
Good luck, and I'm really sorry to hear about that.

RE: V10 Limited Gas Low Miles Cracked Block
My son had a 2000 superduty that he sold due to a increasing vibration and 36000mi. I bought my X used and while shopping i came accross a few V10 units with less than 5000-mi with fresh engines. Made me wonder a bit. I finally found a nice diesel and glad i did. I agree with the other post. Try to get ford to help you in good faith. Ask to talk to the distric rep. yourself, not just the dealer allthough the phone # is not public accessable. Ford customer service might hook you up too. In any event, call them and register a complaint about your problem so it is logged.
