Default 2003 Ford Expedition engine light stays on, what could be wrong?

Does anyone know why my engine light has been on since I purchased the vehicle two weeks ago. The whole ordeal has cost me so much that I can't afford a diagnositic check at this time. I would like to buy the part and fix it myself.

Welcome to the site..

Most of the after market parts vendors like Kragen, Autozone ect. will read the trouble code at no cost to you.. If you can post the trouble code, it would help with a direction to go...

Default Engine Light

From my experience with fords throughout the years, if the vehicle is running good but the light is on, it could be the oxygen sensor is dirty or bad and causeing the fuel to over pump giving you lower gas mileage.

Thanks, I will go to Autozone tomorrow. There is a rattle sound coming from underneath the seat behind the passenger seat. It almost sounds like small rocks hitting thin metal, or like liquid is gurgling, do you know what I may need to replace or tighten?

Thanks, would that also make a gurgling sound under the passenger seat?

Default engine light

You are probably correct, I thought it might be the oxygen sensor. Where is it, because I was in a snow drift and the light has been on since, and I thought it might of got knocked loose.
