So this will be a little lengthy. The fuel pump went out on the wifes car with 98,000 miles. So I have it towed to a local shop and they begin to tear it down. After the tear down the guy from the shop calls me and tells me bad news. The pump is not avaliable to be bought anywhere. He advised me that he had called several local big box auto part stores and it cant be found. The next step he takes is contacting ford, they tell him that the pump is on back order and will not be avaliable until 7-22-13. They found a problem with the pump and stopped production on it until the problem was fixed. Now google search shows up people having plenty of problems with the pump or the FPDM. Now my unit is all in one. So ford has found a problem with the pump, know the problems exist and still have now issued a recall, and now they are telling me i can't even get the pump for two more months. WTF???? What do ya'll think I should do.

 

I went to start my 2007 EL at after fueling up this past Sunday and hit the same issue.

Now I am possibly without my only means of transportation for months.

I have already called Ford Customer Care and they are completely useless - they can't even elevate this issue to the next level without placing an order. Even the dealer I was talking to recommended I look elsewhere due to the long backorder. So without ordering, Ford will not help.

I am also looking for ideas...
