Extended waranty for EL Limited
I recently bought a 2012 new with a 6year 72,000 mile for $2178.00. I was scared of all the electronics on this thing. I didn't take the first offer. Is this a good deal or not? Its the platinum from fidelity. I keep seeing alot of prices online and mine seems high to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Remember...This is only my opinion...
Personally, I never buy an extended warranty. Just put some cash aside for a possible failure. If no failures, you're ahead of the game. If you have a failure, you have money set aside to cover the repair. You're actually paying $2178 for only an additional 3yr/36k mile warranty. It would be nice and then maybe worth it to me if the 6yr/72K mile extended warranty started after the initial 3yr/36k mile warranty.
Also Non-Ford extended warranties can be nightmares when trying to get warranty work approved/repaired.
Costs for the extended warranty is more than the $2178 if you financed the vehicle because your paying interest on that amount for the duration of the loan. Also, if you never use the warranty, your out the $2178 + interest. Another senario is...Let's say your alternator fails after the initial 3yr/36k mile is up and you have a $50 deductable...then your first extended warranty repair cost you $2228.
So basically extended warranty purchases come down to what makes you all warm and fuzzy.

extended waranty
thanks for the reply. I got this knowing i could cancel and do research once I got home. I had already decided it wasn't for me but wanted some other opinions since this is my first Ford. I have already emailed the dealer telling him I didn't want this anymore. Waiting for their reply.
