There was a problem at one time where the check valve in the front pump was faulty and allowed the converter to drainback after sitting a while. This required that the front pump be replaced. This required removal of the trans. If the vehicle will not move right away when started this could be the problem. Also was anything done to the trans that required fluid to be added ? How does the fluid level check out?,,,,,,,,hanky

Thanks for the info...Hanky.

Sounds like you have pin pointed the problem. It does appear that the converter fluid is draining back into the trans. The vehicle won't move at first until the trans. pumps the fluid back into the trans. and with too much fluid in the trans...it blows out the fill tube. The fluid is at the full level...however I have to add fluid every few days due to the fluid blowing out the fill tube.

Ooops!...I meant to say: (The vehicle won't move at first until the trans. pumps the fluid back into the converter.)

Sounds like you got your answer, but you could also check the modulator valve on the side of the trans, if it has one, if they go bad fluid backs up in the vac line! simple fix.
