Default 1994 Ford Explorer 2WD Engine Stuck in Cold Weather

Early and cold in the morning, I start the engine, put into drive and the truck won't go. I step hard on the gas pedal to get it to move, drive to the intersection a few hundred yards away, apply the break then the engine stuck again. I had to step hard on the gas pedal again to get it to move.

I had new front breaks put in recently. When it's stuck it feel like the break pads/disks are not releasing.

It does this only in the cold weather. Does anyone know what is wrong with it? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

It does sound you know what the problem is. Now all you need to do is have the place that did the brake work recheck their work because it certainly sounds like the brakes are holding it back.
I hate to think they took a shortcut and the calipers are hanging up, but anything is possible until it is checked over thoroughly.

Thanks for your quick reply and confirming what I thought what might be the problem. I'll take the truck back to have a look and report back. Thanks again.

Update...The front breaks were checked and no problem found so he recommended to have the transmission looked at. I took the truck to the transmission shop and luckily they found the transmission to be good and recommended transmission services and spark plug cables and new spark plugs replacements. The truck is running good now and does not get stuck in drive in the cold anymore.

Thanks again for your help.
