91 exploreer air cond.

RE: 91 exploreer air cond.
Most likely just a low state of charge.. If the system is low, leaks, and pressure drops the compressor/clutch won't run.. Could just need a charge, or at that age may have a leak in the condensor, compressor seal, oringsect.. If it is due to a very slow system bleed off, generally a charge can/might get the A/C up and running through the hot months, although needed for dehumidifing/defrost as well.. Try 'test' jumping the A/C cycling switch connector (2 wire) and the compessor should run/start.. Check the register air temp during the test.. If it blows cold it could be the cycling switch at fault.. The cycling switch is on the reciever/drier as shown 'typical'.. If duringthe test jumper, compressor running, the register air temps remain poor, and after pulling the test lead the compressor stops, S/B a low charge problem, possibly due toa leak....
