94 explorer fuel odor

Default 94 explorer fuel odor

when i turn off the engine i smell fuel, but it doesnt smell while its running...my tank isnt over filled, and i dont know whats going on...if anyone knows what the problem is please help!!!

Not sure about why you can't smell it when its running, but I check under the thing for any signs of leaking. Check all around the engine look for anything that looks like a dried-up wet spot. The only other thing that I can think of, is that you have a leaking injector. When you turn off the engine the fuel system still has pressure and a leaking injector is dumping fuel into the intake. After looking for a leak I'd try taking it to a shop and have them run it on a fuel injector cleaner, this might fix the problem. good luck
