98 4.0 Eddie Bauer Left Low Beam Out
Hey - I've been searching for about 30 minutes and found that a common problem with the low beam's going out one at a time is the LOM in the eddie bauer computer.
This truck has one low beam light out, but the computer reads "OK if on", instead of recognizing a problem, like in situations with the LOM.
Does anyone know what could cause this?
New Bulb
Good Fuse
Computer Says "OK if on"

Whats your production date?
The LOM was discontinued for the later build Explorers in 98.. The earlier Explorers had the LOM under the center console.. It wasn't much more than a 'jumper' with the lamps in series.. If yours is a early build you should be able to bridge the LOM connector/harness to correct the connection and take the LOM off line to diagnose the lamp/circuit fault.. If equipped, Left low beam wire colors SB.. W/LG and DB/W at the connector..

I'm sorry! I just checked with the girl whom I'm fixing this car for, and apparently it's a 97.
So there's that, I'm not sure what that means for the LOM.
Also, in all the articles I saw where this was an issue, the computer complained that the lights were indeed out. In this one, it just says "OK if On"... So I am a little concerned there. Does that indicate where the problem might or might not be?
Thanks!

97 has an LOM..
You should get the 'OK if On' in the Message Center during the system check,, when the low beams, rear park/running, and stops are 'not' ON since it won't detect a faulted lamp until switched ON or activated.. Same message with with the lamps ON and illuminated when no lamps are out..
If the left low beam is out with the headlights switched to the ON position, system check/Message Center says 'OK in On' and the #4 position fuse 10amp in the interior panel is good, you have/tested found no power distribution out the head lamp connector, then I'd pull the console cover and check 'both' the W/LG (Current Input from the fuse panel) and DB/W (left low output) at the LOM.. It should detect the circuit/draw failure, but possibly shorted internal..
