Default Apparently my 98 Ford Explorer thinks I am trying to steal it???

I have a '98 Ford Explorer that will intermittently start. When it has trouble starting, it will start and run rough for a few seconds and then die. I have to wait at least 30-45 minutes before it will run and then I have no issues. (Some things I have noticed, it only wont start if I have left it for just a few minutes after driving it and come back to it, I always seem to be parked on a slite inclince when it happens) My uncle is a mechanic and he believes what is happening is the fuel pump is shutting off because the computer for some reason is sensing that I am trying to steal the vehicle. He said to reset the computer I need to unlock the lock manually with the key, well thats a funny story, after 11 years of my family owning the vehicle, no one has ever tried the key and they will not unlock the door! My questions:
A. has this computer issue happened to any one else or similar starting issues that you have found a solution for?
B. Do your keys work in the door?
C. What do I need to do to get a key that will work?? Do I just call a locksmith.

I really appreciate your help!!

I had a similar problem with a 2003. From reading on the internet it's looking like a pretty common thing and when I took it to the dealer, they had it diagnosed in a few minutes. There is a switch in the kick panel (at least on the 2003) that will shut the fuel pump off, and in my case it was intermittent with no pattern. The plug on the kill switch had melted and was making contact intermittently. The car wouldn't shut off after it had started but ocassionally it would turn over but fail to start. A melted plug inside a kick panel is not something that one would find so quickly unless it happened frequently. I think Ford has a known problem with this and they aren't telling because the dealer just happened to have a plug in stock to repair the problem. I find that VERY unusual..... This should be a recall .... wiring doesn't wear out. The wiring is obviously not the correct size for the application. Hope this helps.
Oh, by the way, the criminals at the dealership in Jacksonville, Fl, near OP charged $100. diagnostic for a 5 minute troubleshooting evolution and another $250. to put on a new plug and replace the switch. I'm thinking Ford needs to cough up some money on this one.

I find the door lock problem to be common with vehicles that the owner uses the remote to lock/unlock the vehicle. The problem is that the latch assembly needs to be lubed along with the key tumbler in the door. The question about the starting sounds like it is either the Idle Air Control motor is sticking, or you have a weak fuel pump. When you try to start the car, mash the pedal just a little to open the throttle and see if it will start. Hold your foot down for a moment and then let off. If it stalls, then the problem is the Idle Air Control motor.
