Default Drive/OD won't engage

Ok, so last year I had a modulator? (maybe I don't remember) replaced on my automatic transmission. After that was fixed, the Explorer stalled for a few seconds every time I went into drive or over drive. I would start the Explorer, put it in drive, then wait two seconds for it to get into gear. Then, it progressed to me having to rev the engine to make it go into gear in drive. Now, I have to rev it to at least 3000 rpms to get it to go into to engage, and it can take up to 5 minutes! The Explorer has no problem going into reverse or park and shifts gears normally when it is in drive. It would be greatly appreciated if some one could help me out. Thanks!
