Default What causes the need to reset my fuel pump??

I bought a gently used 2004 Explorer about 2 months ago.... never owned a Ford product before, so I don't know just a ton about them. Has been running great, no problems until today. This morning, I went out to my driveway and couldn't get it to start. At the suggestion of a family member, I located the fuel pump reset underneath my glove box. Pressed the button and tried again to start the car. With some pumping of the gas pedal, it managed to turn over. Tried turning it off and restarting it, and it acts like nothing was ever wrong with it so it seems like the reset button solved the problem. My question is what would even cause the pump to be reset in the first place? I drove it to work and back yesterday and it ran just fine then. There was no indication of any problem until this morning, but all it did was sit overnight in the driveway. What could cause this so I can avoid it in the future? Thanks!
