1992 F150 firing problem
I have a 92 flareside with a rebuilt 302 in it thats been giving me some problems... Here lately, whenever it gets hot outside or the engine gets hot it will not crank!! At first I thought it maybe vaporlock but I've done everything to fix that problem and am positive it is getting gas so that cannot be the problem... The engine turns but will not fire for the life of it until it cools down. Ive previously replaced the distributor cap and am wondering if the distributor itself isn't the problem but am not sure so I don't want to mess with anything just yet... The truck as I said has a 302 with an edelbrock carb, msd ignition, and electric fuel pumps... Also the truck has a problem with bucking usually between 35 to 45 mph but does is ramdomly at other times during excelleration as well... Don't know if the problems are related but I would love any help on solving the issue because it's annoying for you truck not to want to crank back up everytime you stop at a gas station!

Have you been able to check for spark at those times it will not start?
No spark= ignition system
Spark= fuel system
Either one of those systems could have an electrical problem, but that way you can isolate which system is with the problem.

sounds a little bit like the coil getting too hot and breaking down ! the next time it won,t start check for spark at the plugs ! the coil wire in the center of the distributor cap, follow it and it will go to the coil !

Ive read some where on another forum it might be a problem with the coil... Where will I find the coil? I know this is probably a stupid question but I'm only 21 and don't really have any male figure in my life so I'm pretty much just teaching myself how to do all these things with help for people like y'all.

Alright thanks! I checked the spark from the coil to the distributor and there was little to no spark at times... Will just replacing the msd coil do the trick or could it possible be a problem in the msd control box?

After a ton of time looking under the hood I decided to check the wires leading into my cab. I noticed that the ones leading to my toggle switch, which the guy i bought it from had designed to pretty much power everything, seemed to be damaged from over heating. I replaced those and ran my ignition switch back to the original key control and for now it seems to be doing better. Hopefully this will solve the issue for good! I greatly appreciate all Y'alls help and advice!!
