1992 f150 terrible fuel economy!!
Maybe I can get some better help..
Now that we're in winter we can expect lesser fuel economy but mine is absolutely terrible!
I'm experiencing about 10MPG when i should be getting an average of 14-17.
I have read up that the dual tanks can cross-fill if one sending unit is defective. In my case that is true because my rear sending unit is defective and i had run the tank dry (when the pump decided to work). Sure enough, while diagnosing the problem, the rear tank is now full again but I'm still getting roughly 200 miles or 300kms per 19gal or 72 liter tank!
In the summer, the front tank will run me to 400kms or 248 miles.
I recently scanned the codes and I pulled codes 44,13,52.
The only relevance to fuel economy may come from my code 44 (thermactor system fault). Its part of the anti-pollution system but it had been disconnected since i bought the truck and i have no cat. Would code 13 (rpm at idle low/out of range) or code 52 (power steering pressure switch open/closed) have any other effect?
I have new cap/rotor, plugs, wires, coil, air filter, fuel filter, O2 sensor within the last year.
By the smell of it, I'm definitely burning rich!
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

If you know where the fuel pressure regulator is located, remove the vacuum line from the top and see if it has any gasoline in it. It should not have any. Right off the top that would be my first thing to check. It will kill your mileage and also cause the engine to run very rich.

I found it easily enough.
Disconnected the red vacuum hose and no gas was leaking out.
Would this mean that the pressure regulator is still ok or not necessarily? I'm sure changing it would do some good any way. Who knows when it was changed last if at all..
Thanks for the heads up and I'll keep you in the loop!
