1995 f-150 5.0 v8 throttle hesitates
hi guys i wonder if you could help me with this. I have a 1995 f-150 supercab xlt 5.0 v8.When im driving on the freeway at about 60-70 i feel a hesitation in the engine like fuel is having trouble getting to the motor, its kinda like a vibration i can feel but not all the time though. I have narrowed it down to two things i think, 1) the fuel injectors are clogged or something or 2) the fuel pump is having difficulty pumping to the motor but im not sure on these to be exact, what do you think maybe the problem. thx

How many miles on the clock? Any CEL?
Last time for tune up pieces plugs/wires ect.? Fuel filter?
If it were a fuel pump issue, it would most likely be on 'one' fuel tank/pump.. Fuel supply problems usually show up as a flat throttle or 'bog'.. Same issues on both tanks? Will it acceleratebeyond the flat spot or misfire fairly easy or does it run out of power? Could be a plug, a wire breaking down, cap ect..or an injector 'possibly'.. Do you ever notice the mis/vibration down low on a hard accel...

i changed the fuel filter and it made no difference, it has been a while since i replaced the sparkplugs, have some autolites on standby for that job this weekend. It has 112000miles and i replaced the distributor and wires 6mos ago with the fuel filter. its real bothersome ill be cruising along the freeway and i feel the vibration in the engine like gas is not getting in but other than that it doesn't seem to do it on hard acceleration or maybe i dont notice it

Is it possible that your feeling torque converter 'shudder'? Higher mileage E4OD's will sometimes have an issue with the the torque converter clutch 'shuddering' at freeway speeds, usually under light/moderate acceleration, pulling grades ect.. Some suffer slight vibs, some more severe, but usually if you just back off the throttle slightly the converter clutch locks again.. Next time you feel the 'vibration', cancel the OD and see if the vibration stops.. Certainly not ruling out an ignition, or fuel problem, but the fact that you say it vibrates, with no, or liitlepower loss is another option or possible cause..

you seem to be very helpful, thx alot for replys. I dont think i will do any extreme maint on it ill probably just deal with it, i was thinking it might had something to do with my poor gas mileage. What do you think about that tornado thing that goes into the air pipe gimmick or do you think they might actually work.

I've heard of other forums/members that have run turbine/swirl type intake adapters, but never heard of any results.. Pro or Con.. Usually when something sounds to go to be true, it is.. 70.00 would buy a 'few' gallons of gas as well.. If this type of add in device would consistently raise MPG's in todays market race for high MPG vehicles, you'd see them as stock equipment from the manufacturers for sure..
