Default 1997 f 150,backfiring, spitting and sputtering

HI all
again this truck wants to test the knowledge of even the mechanic we take it to,,,,,, The truck is spitting, sputtering, back firing occasionally, no power i can floor it and barely makes it above 40..... we threw it on the computer says one side not firing, so somehow he thinks the fuel injectors, at 100 dollars each wants to replace all them.

Is there any test for that,,,,,,,,, then he said something about hoping no gas in something.,,,,,,,,

Any input,,,,,,,,,, HLEP

thanks

Oh yeah we have replace coil pacs,,,,,, sprk plugs,,,, plug wires,,,,,, not sure what else........

A good way to test the injectors is to put them in a different position. If one whole side is bad, then put them all on the other side to see if that side goes bad.

he said he took some refurbished ones and tried them,,,,,, it worked better but still not great he was afraid of gas getting in something,,,,,, not sure if that is a big issue, but that is why he wants to buy all new ones to try but thats an awful lot of money if that is not it..........

I am going to look up some of them to see how much wrong time of year for this but hey that will be my sons christmas that is for sure...............

If he put refurbished ones in and it only "better" and not fixed, then that may not be what is wrong. I would try using the ones from your vehicle on the other side of the engine to see if they do or don't work for sure before I spent $400+ on a maybe. It is the best way to tell if that is the problem.

If one bank seems to be the problem, have you done a compression test on it? Is this a 4.6 motor? Could you have lost cam timing on one bank? Sounds like you have touched base on just about everything else, so I would go back to basics.

I was wondering if you ever fixed the sputtering problem, it sounds like the same problem I am having it has no power when floored or going up a hill, sputters and feels like it is missfiring, the check engine light came on for " number eight cylinder missfiring" we changed coilpack, spark plug the check engine light went away after we disconnected the battery and hasn't come back on but their has been no change in the problem stillhasno power and sputters still.

ANY HEPL
