2.7L Eco Boost 5700 Poind Travel Trailer Towing
Hello,
I am seriously contemplating buying a travel trailer that has a dry weight of 5700 pounds. I wish to tow it from Louisiana to Washington state and back. I have a 2015 2.7L ECOBOOST Ford F-150. Is this a good idea or will I destroy my engine and transmission? All of my friends are nay sayers and claim that this engine, transmission, and suspension will not be able to handle this job. Any relevant insight or experience will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site..
What's the specific build as far as cab etc..
2.7 has a max towing of 7500-8500 lbs depending on cab/chassis profile 2 or 4x4 optioned/axle ratios, payload of 2210lbs.
Well within the towing limits (excluding the trailers/personal gear, water if any etc, and anything carried in the truck including passengers needs to be factored in including fuel weight) but depending on route grades, ambient temps, traffic Asumming auto trans, it's always good practice to cancel OD and use Tow Haul were appropriate. Shift 'hunting' or continuous shifting is tough on the trans, not just in the ECO/150 and using the OD and TH accordingly will help with pulling stresses on both the engine and trans. Doubt a 5700lb trailer would have a tongue weight of concern, but stability/sway etc sometimes comes into play with the heavier weights on lighter contenders...

Engine, Body style (not trim package), 2 or 4WD and Gear ratio determines towing capacity. The attached thumbnail is for the 2015 F-150.
(1) Calculated with SAE J2807 method. (2) Maximum loaded trailer weight requires weight-distributing hitch. (3) Requires 2.7L EcoBoost® Payload Package. (4) Requires Heavy-Duty Payload
Package. (5) Includes 17" tires and wheels. (6) Includes 18" tires and wheels. (7) Requires Max Trailer Tow Package.
Notes: • Do not exceed trailer weight of 5,000 lbs. when towing with bumper only.
• Trailer tongue load weight should be 10-15% of total loaded trailer weight. Make sure vehicle payload (reduce by option weight) will accommodate trailer tongue load weight and weight
of passengers and cargo added to towing vehicle. Addition of trailer tongue load weight and weight of passengers and cargo cannot cause vehicle weights to exceed rear GAWR or GVWR.
These ratings can be found on the vehicle Safety Compliance Certification Label.
