2004 F150 "lurching"
At times my truck after starting up rough will "lurch" (lack of a better term) or jumps ahead of itself even whentrying toapply the brake. Has this happened to anyone else? Have taken in but they don't know.

Hey
I’m no expert on Fords, and only had mine for 3 weeks and the dealer had it for 3 weeks, but that is a different story.
The write up you place is a little vague. Is this happening only seconds after you start the truck and when you apply the break to place the truck in to gear. If so I have no clue.
Is this happening in the first few miles you drive you truck, and if so is your A/C turned on?
The reason I ask is, I had a Van that when I applied the break and the AC was on it would try to keep moving, ( lurch forward ) before the break would kick in. This was caused buy some computer somewhere thinking the AC was drawing down the engine and it applied more gas. This usually only happened while the AC was still cooling the car down. Compressor Compensator comes to mind I believed the machines said. This was years ago
Not sure if this had any thing to do with your problem. It is just a thought.

RE: 2004 F150 "lurching"
Hey, thanks for the response! the problem is seconds after you start up and apply the brake to put in gear the truck just starts lurching or jumping ahead. it doesn't happen everyday but it happens more often then not. also the truck tends to idle rough. had it looked at a few times but to no avail. But here's a good one my truck which i take pride in, never have i towed anything or for that matter put anything heavy in the bed and is only 3 years old (brought new in 2004) now is in the shop because the transmission has gone out and i only have 40,000 miles on it! Built Ford Tough - I don't think so! i am told that the truck has "catastraphic transmisson failure" whatever that means - let me tell you emailshave been flying to Ford Corp. I'd like to know how often this has happened to others. Hopefully you won't have any problems .
Thanks again for the response.
