2004 f150 turn signal relay issues
I have a 2004 f150 that was making a clicking sound under the dash. I think I traced it to the turn signal relay. Replaced relay, and it still is clicking while driving at highway speed. The turnsignals function normally. If I hold the relay while driving, I can feel it energize and de-energize intermitently. This is driving me nuts. Anyone with any ideas?
Thanks

Yes, when the relay is removed, they both stop working. The clicking is random. It clicks a few times a second, and then it may go a minute without doing it. It seems to be related to the bumps in the road. Could there be a short in the supply power? I can not replicate the clicks when the truck is stationary, so I am wondering if maybe it is an issue with the fuse panel or the turnsignal switch itself.

Should have added before that the signals work with no problems, and the clicking sound can be heard between the pauses in the regular signal clicker. It sounds like the relay is opening and closing rapidly ( up to 5 times a second), but there are no outward signs of a problem. I guess I could try wrapping some tape around it to deaden the sound

RE: 2004 f150 turn signal relay issues
Shame on me for very poor troubleshooting. After a few days of unplugging fuses and relays, I eliminated the turn signal and the multi function switch. I was able to replicate the problem by turning the steering wheel slightly to the left while driving over 20 MPH. Any slower and it does not happen, and it only happens when the wheel is turned a few degrees to the left. The airbag was serviced just before I got the truck, so it seems that the garage may have screwed up the clock spring. The cruise control only works above 20 MPH, so the parts guy at Ford said that they probably installed the clock spring incorrectly, and the clicking is an intermittent contact. I picked up a new one for $40.00, so hopefully that is the problem

I think most, if not all Cruise controls have a minimum speed before they will ingage. My Tbird Cruise control only works just above 40 KPH.
I am not sure if you stated that as a concern or as a matter of fact, so I just thought I would add that.

I replaced the clock spring, and the problem is still there. My next idea would be the multi-function swith or some type of cruise control relay. Does anyone know if there is a relay for the cruise somewhere under the dash? I know there is a relay on the fuse block. I am still leaning toward some type of cruise control issue, as it is speed related. Next step is to pull the fuse for the cruise and see if it persists
It was readily apparent that the previous airbag maintenance did not include removing the airbag module or the steering wheel.
