Default 2wd to 4wd conversion

My truck is a 87 f150 2wd. im in the prosses on making it 4wd. i already put the front axle in (from a 91bronco). i was wondering if i would need a new transfer and trans or if i would only need a tranfer case. the trans it has in it is a 2wd 4sp manual. thanks in advance.

probably just the transfer case, but you gotta see which front driveshaft goes to your front axle, and then find a transfer case for that driveshaft, and hope it matches to your tranny

You should be able to get the transfer case only. You will most likely need a new rear drive shaft, too.

If you call a salvage yard and ask them for one you can chat them up a bit and they'll let you know what you can get them from.
