2wd to 4wd conversion
hey guys. finaly got my truck starter running. but after driving my truck in the regular manitoba winter... i have found that a 2wd truck is more usless in winter then a flag with a peace sign on it in iraq. Anyway, im running a 1997 4.2 V6, 5 speed. I want to know if its possible to convert to a 4wd without buying a new truck. i could care kess if I would have to install one of those setups wear u need to get out of the truck and lock the 4wd in manually, but i dont really care , even if its perminitly on. i need 4X4 on my truck and i cant get a new one for at leat another 3 years.ne one knwo if its possible or what the costs could be?. not to mention the length of time i could be looking at ?... thx guys

RE: 2wd to 4wd conversion
Problem would be the cost..
Converting to a 4x4 from a 2x4 isn't as easy as it used to be, and generally is easier totrade off for a different truck of the same MY,, give or take.. Certainly it could be added,,, even more so if you have wreck to 'barrow' parts from, which would be the best way IMO.. But to buy all the needed componenets and labor (if any) usually costs more in the end over a trade off.. Even just connverting from a manual trans to automatic is a pretty sizeable job now days..Not like days of old..
