Is it carburated? If so it sounds to me like the accelerator pump on the carb might need replacement. (about a $5 part) Not hard to install and usually makes all the difference in the world. However other things to check are an issue with the distributor not advancing and retarding properly, distributor vaccum advance not working properly. Damaged, loose or leaking vaccum lines. These are a few simple things. There are a lot of things that one would have to take into consideration also. Number of miles on engine (timing issues). Previous issues...and so on. Let us know what you discover, or come back and we can check more stuff.
