85 F150 Project
Hi All,
New to the forum.
My son and I have a new project - an '85 F150 (300cid, 1 barrel carb - original, manual, 4WD) that we are going to put back into shape. It runs, but shakily. The beast will need a lot of work - in the long run including rebuilding the engine/transmission etc. Any suggestions as to where to start? I thought that the electrical cabling - basically the battery and starter cables, ignition coil, distributor and plug wires, and a new carburetor (the old one is a mess - lots of rust and frozen linkages and all kinds of plugged vacuum hoses). Any one know if we can upgrade the carg to a two-barrel? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

RE: 85 F150 Project
they sell an adapter , you probaly will have to order it from a spec. shop to put on a 2 V , carb,,, However Iam not sure what your trying to gain by doing this . You wont get the preformance from it- if your train of thought is going from a 2 to 4 V on a V8, Your Truck should have what is called a progessive 2 barrel . as you open the throttle . the vaccum , will open up the secondary's

Thanks RamRod48 - the stock carb is one-barrel and we were just wondering if it would be possible to move to a two barrel. The engine is the 4.9L/300 in-line 6 and we'd like to generate a little more air flow through the engine. Is it possible to get a higher flow carb with only one barrel?
Thanks again.
