'86 acceleration problems...
I recently purchased an 86 f150 Explorer with the 5.0EFI/AOD. It had been sitting for about 2 years. At purchase, it ran a little rough, but overall had no issues. After about a week of driving, it started hesitating on anything more than a 1/2 throttel acceleration. I had already replaced the air filter and done an oil change. After the problem developed, I changed the plugs/wires/cap/rotor and PCV. Although all this improved my iddle significantly, I still had the same problem. After another few days, though, oddly enough it went away. I assumed at this point perhaps there was some bad gas in the tank at purchase, and maybe I had finnally worked it all out, but now a few weeks later, the problem is back. I did recently learn my front gas tank has a leak[:@], and the rear was already in bad(unusable) condition...I was wondering if the leak in my gas tank could be affecting the pressure of the fuel delivery system enough so it is not able to supply enough go juice for anything more than low rpm operation. Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

RE: '86 acceleration problems...
i dont think that it will affect the pressure. unless its a huge hole. i had a buddy that had the problem of it hessitating (spelling) and it ended up being the cat. it would do the exact thing that yours is doing. so he just got a used cat and put it on and it works good now.
