Default 90 f150 timing

I just replaced the magnetic pickup in the distributor and need to know how to set the timing. I pulled the distributor to replace the part, and now the truck will not start. hoe do I do it from the begining?

Default RE: 90 f150 timing

pick up a chilton's manual first. Second you will have to see if you need to set the timing twice. You will probably have to set the timing with and without the vacuum advance hooked up. Before you attempt timing, you will need to turn (bump starter little at a time)the engine over (by hand when it gets close)until the #1 is at TDC. My 94 has to be set at idle with the vac. advance not hooked up and at 1500 RPM w/ it hooked up (i believe those are the correct configurations)

If you dont have much experience timing, I would suggest getting help. I have my dist.pulled right now and will be having my mechanic (aka dad) who is a 20 year mechanicset mine becuase i dontwant to have to redo it. Timing isnt something you want messed up!
