'97 f-150 brakes
I have a '97 f-150 4x4 off road package with 4 wheel ABS. I seem to warp the front rotors quickly <3months after turning them. First time it happend I figured it was the water trailer I pull, the last time it happened no water trailer just a hard stop at a intersection when someone went through it. Had the mechanic look at rear brakes first time around and he said didnt appear to be working. The next time said it appeared the rears were working . Wondering if the portioning valve could be my problem. Also know there is a recall involving cruise and brakes

RE: '97 f-150 brakes
I have heard of problems with front rotors on late '90's models, but do not know of a recall. If you go on to Ford's website, there is a section there for Ford owners to enter in the car VIN and it will tell you about any recalls.
This link should take you to it.

RE: '97 f-150 brakes
Tough debate here, but every time you machine rotors to remove warp the likely hood a warp will return and quickly return increases. IMO a truck full size should really never have the rotors machined just replaced. Also you should make sure rear brakes are adjustd well, and put the Ceramic stlye front brake pads on front as they will help keep the brake temperatures down, thus decreasing the likely hood of rewarping rotors.
