Question Acceleration Hesitation 2006 F150

I have a 2006 F150 SuperCrew with a 5.4 engine that has a hesitation whenever I go to accelerate. I have discussed this with the dealer and they told me it is common and that it is related to the computer needing to "think" before executing the order to accelerate. I was wondering if someone knows how to fix this or at least decrease the hesitation. I would love to have full acceleration the moment I step on the gas pedal! Can anyone help me out?

I'm having the same problem with my new 2010 F-150. Not so much from a dead stop, but when I try to accelerate on the freeway to change lanes. Very dangerous because I need that surge to avoid a side collision. It seems to hesitate for about 3 seconds before it accelerates.

My 2010 F-150 seems to be correcting itself after putting about 7K miles on it. I don't think that should be necessary, but I guess trucks these days are 90% computer and 10% mechanical.
