Default Battery and radio buzz

I have a 96 F150 with the 5.0 and it wouldn't start for my son this morning. He had someone jump it off and he drove it home from his grandparents house, shut it off and tried to restart it and nothing. I jumped it off again and let it run for a few minutes while I checked the voltage at the battery which showed normal. I got in it and heard a buzzing coming from the radio that got louder as you gave it gas and then fell back when you let off. I always thought that noise was caused by non resistor plugs or wires but I may be wrong about that. Anyway, battery is old and I know its due to be replaced but would a bad battery have anything to do with the noise from the radio? Thanks in advance for your help.

It is possible, but I doubt that is the cause. Usually the radio will pick up stray interference when a filter capacitor for the system is either becoming defective or disconnected. Also if the antenna lead is too close to some wiring it will pick that up.Check the antenna lead in wire and antenna mounting for moisture/water intrusion.

Thanks, turned out to be nothing but a broken terminal on the positive post. I hadn't noticed it until I started taking it off. Replaced the terminal and all is good.
