Check Engine Light EGR problem ?
I've had my 2002 ford f-150 checked for the check engine light and was told the emissions were too lean or something like that. I replaced the sensor withthe 2 tubes coming from the exhaust tube. It worked fine for about 2 days and the light came back on. I was told to replace the EGR valve and by the next day the light came on. It runs a little rough but sure does burn that 2.50 a gallon gas. Anyone got any ideas on what I can check next? thanks

RE: Check Engine Light EGR problem ?
The passages in the manifold may be cloaked with carbon.[hr]I would remove the EGR a spray gumout in the passages.[hr]Now start the truck with the egr off and spray more in the passages.[hr]It may run a little rough but this is the only way to fix this.[hr]Reassemble the egr and clear the code by removing the battery terminal for a few minutes.[hr]This is a common problem that can easaly fixed.[hr]The last 2 ford egr problems I had were fixed using this method.

RE: Check Engine Light EGR problem ?
I tried this on my truck and the light was off for a few days. Now it's back on, Got any other suggestions? I wanted to ask if anybody knows whether there is a part which controls the vacuum line to the EGR valve. If so how can I check this part or the vacuum line going to the EGR.

RE: Check Engine Light EGR problem ?
It's called the Exhaust Gas Vacuum Regulator. It's a solenoid that the PCM commands. When the PCM tells the solenoid to active the EGR the solenoid passes a vacuum to the EGR which in turn moves a diaphram in the EGR that allows the soot that should go out your exhaust to clog your entire intake system with carbon thanks to the EPA.
