Default Engine Tuning

Just got finished having 60,000 miles service done to my 01 F-150 supercrew which the dealer claimed he changed all fluids, tuned engine, rotated tires...etc...... However what does tuning engine entail? I figured it meant that they were gonna check timing and replace plugs and everything.. but they said they do not change plugs till 100K. a week later i needed to replace a spark plug and ignition coil number 6. a week aftre i had that done, i had to have another plug replaced and ignition coil number 7 replaced. Is this normal? I am getting pissed for having to shell out $800 in two weeks time for "preventitve maintainence". Please leave feedback

That sucks, but it probably coincidence. I would replace all of the plugs if you have to replace two, though.

But shouldn't that be included in Tuning the engine?

Default RE: Engine Tuning

Most newer Ford have 100k duration on spark plugs. 60k services at my dealership doesn't include spark plugs, but does include fuel filter. air filter, transmission service and some other things. In saying "Tuned the Engine", I would think that they would have changed the plugs since thats the ONLY thing anyone can really claim as tuning. There are no adjustments like timing or fuel or anything else. Tune-ups just aren't what they used to be. You should check your reciept to see if spark plugs were billed.

Sounds to me like a coincidence on the misfires.
