Default Explorer SportTrac to F150

This is not an easy transition. During a test drive of the F150 King Ranch edition I noticed I loose a few features I have come to rely on with my SporTrac. 1) Luggage Rack on cab top, F150 does not come with one 2) tauno cover, again there is not a factory cover like the one I habve on my sport track. I am used to folding it back, or locking it down to protect my gear 3) No "cleat" or "tie downs" on the outside of the bed, again I use the ones on my sportrac all the time. 4) no power port in the bed.

Am I out of touch or spoiled? I am on my 2nd SprorTrac and would like to move up to a large wheel base and engine with a F150 but not if I loose functionality.

1.) The luggage rack is usually not necessary for a truck with a bed the size of an F-150.
2.) No factory tauno cover, but the advantage is that you can get one after market, or a topper, or leave it open, or a 5th wheel hitch, or even a camper (remember those old things?).
3.) No tie downs on the outside of the bed, nut usually there aretie down pointson the inside of the bed.
4.) You got me there, but it is big enough to carry a generator which could power a house.

I just had the same dilemna. I owned a 2007 Sporttrac 4.6 XLT with aftermarket GPS w/ backup camera. I loved the truck. Put 31,000 miles on it in a year or so. Just decided to trade up to an '08 F150 XLT 5.4 loaded. I picked it up yesterday. I really don't think Iwill regret it. My wife manages a Ford dealership, and between the rebates and D Plan we saved about $14,000. Itdidn't make sense to me not to do it. I will miss my GPS and back up, but already notice that the reverse sensors are more useful than the back up. I m also looking at the Magellan integrated GPS made for the F150. It look stock and runs less than $300. I say go for it and good luck! I think they are offering $8,000 in rebates right now and awesome finance rates if you need.
